Fun Bits for the Week… November 23, 2009

Fun Bits for the Week of November 16th…

• Leah has been saying that’s so awesome a lot lately….she says it so dramatically too.
• Brooke has just been a handful lately…climbing into and out of her crib, saying “no” all the time,  coloring several of her toys, running away from me every chance she gets, sticking foam stickers EVERYWHERE, stabbing the table with her fork numerous times to leave a nice “distressed” look…oh my when are we out of these terrible twos!!!!
• Kami is getting over a 4 day bout with a fever…funny how she learned that if she is still “sick” she can lay on the couch and watch shows all day. 
• We enjoyed our first trip to Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo this weekend.  It’s very cool if you’ve never been.  I’m embarrassed to say that we’ve been here for 7 years and this was our first time going!!!  Wildlights is a beautiful display of Christmas lights at our local zoo.  A couple of the displays dance to music throughout the night.  I was having difficulty getting some night shots of the lights but did manage to get a couple of the girls having some fun.  Here are a couple of pics…

• Leah wrote me a song this evening (after watching Billy Ray Cyrus sing a similar one to his daughter on Hannah Montana).  It goes like this…

• Today,  I went to pick up the girls at the babysitter’s and put Brooke and Kami in my vehicle first.  Next thing I knew Brooke was in the driver’s seat, honking the horn and staring the adults down with these devilish little eyes.  She had pigtails in so she looked a whole lot cuter.  I busted up laughing!

A whole lot of randomness! November 17, 2009

Ugh, having difficulty getting back to blogging this week.  Sick kids, traveling husband, multiple classes, projects, new designs….I just can’t keep up.  I guess that’s a good thing. 

I really enjoyed my classes in the last couple of weeks.  Thanks Amy for the cute magnet and card!  The retreat at Scrapbook Art was great!  I enjoyed Jennifer McGuire’s class (learned some fun new techniques) and had a great time with the ladies.  I’ll get some pics up soon.  Kimber and Karen harassed me a bit too much but I made it out alive.  Karen won a Making Memories Slice – she wasn’t even there when she won and she’s lucky it was still there in the morning.   The girls at Pizazz It! were great this weekend.  Card class next time, right ladies?   Also, I had a class at B&B last night that was fun.  Thanks ladies for participating and supporting Jillibean Soup! Phew. 

I will be doing make n’ takes at B&B on December 5th for their anniversary.  We will be making cute little gift card holders.  Also, I will be offering the same make n’ take at Cord Camera in Clintonville for their grand re-opening on Dec 13th.   I would love to have you stop by! 

Jillibean will be sponsoring a giveaway over at the Christmas with the Cricut blog sometime soon (will let you know as soon as I know).  I know we’ve got several Cricut users around here, so you’ll have to check it out.  They giveaway one cricut cartridge a week plus cardstock from Core’dinations along with donations from other manufacturers.

I have a couple of prayer requests (yes, I said this post was random)…some for my Dad and step-mother who are dealing with the craziness of selling a house while getting another one ready at the same time.  Also, one of Eric’s co-workers (a sweet guy who I used to work with as well) had a stroke last week.  I don’t even think he’s in his 50’s and he had a son pass away a couple of years ago from a SUV accident. 

Last but not least, I have to tell you that I recently figured out that parents can eat lunch with their kids at school during their lunch period.  I asked Leah if I could come and sit with her and she said “no, you would embarass me”.   She’s 6!  I asked her if I dressed funny or said funny things and her only reply is “you would embarass me”.   I thought this would happen when she was a teenager, not at 6!

Look who lost her first tooth! November 6, 2009

Leah lost her first tooth!  She’s been watching all her friends lose their teeth and wondered when it was her time.  She was so excited!  She lost the tooth at school so the nurse gave her a special tooth necklace to put it in.

Fun Bits for the Week.. November 3, 2009

Fun Bits for the week of October 27th…

• While eating out the other night, Brooke thought our server should know that her Dad was going potty. 
• Kami still thinks we are bringing home a baby!
• Leah had her last soccer game on Saturday.  She scored 2 goals!  She enjoyed the pizza party with the team and her “trophy”. 
• We had a playdate the other day…Kami has been instructing everyone to “watch out for the dog poop” as they enter our backyard to play.
• If you saw Leah’s costume, then you noticed that she has on dress shoes.  For her Halloween party at school, Mom sent her ballet shoes.  When Mom showed up to help with the party, Leah did not want to wear her ballet shoes but her black swede boots that she had on with her street clothes.  Mom said “No”, Leah said “Yes”.  As soon as Leah returned from the parade with her class, off went the ballet shoes and on went the boots.  Her costume turned into a GoGo girl outfit!
• The girls really got along on Sunday while playing…the funny part was that Brooke (2 yr old) was the “Mom” when they played house.
• Trick or Treat, smell my feet… the girls had a good time trick or treating!  Leah was excited to go to 2 extra streets this year (normally we just stay in our cul de sac).   Kami was worn out after 1.5 streets and Brooke could have cared less.  She did entertain all of our neighbors with her piggy noises! 
• Leah went to the dentist today…she has 3 loose teeth!  She can’t wait to lose them!  I on the other hand know we’re in for several years of awkward smiles.

Taking some pics for a friend October 30, 2009

I think it’s o.k. to post these.  Heather posted them on Facebook so I think it’s o.k.

Anyhow, my friend Heather asked if I would take some engagement pics of she and her fiance Eric.  Whenever someone asks me to do this, it makes me nervous.   I like taking pictures, don’t get me wrong, but I’m always worried that I won’t have the right lighting or I won’t be able to compensate for the lighting with my gear.  Also, I’m not too hot a posing people…remember I follow 3 kids around with my camera! 

We did get lucky and there are a couple that I love…thought I would share…

I had a great time trying to shoot these too…they were so cute together!  Love that we got some good stuff! 

Scrappin’ Space October 28, 2009

I don’t have a whole lot of room for my scrapping materials.  We use our basement for Jillibean Soup so that leaves a very small area for a desk and some shelves.  Recently,  Terry Cowans of Reddin’ Up came over and organized some of my scrapbook materials (by the way…”Reddin’ Up” is a term most western Pennsylvanians know…it means picking up or cleaning up a room ).  I’m thrilled to have a clean space to work at now!!!

My basement is not that wide so I can’t even get the whole desk in one shot.   Love the ribbon rods and the shelving.

The desk was purchased at IKEA.  It has a glass top so I can see everything that’s in the shelf below the class.  The shelves on the legs just house some baskets for of different embellishments and pictures.

Side view shows the desktop as well as this cute little cart holding my sewing machine.  The cart is also from IKEA and it works great for housing my stamps and my punch collection (I’m a punch collector)  as seen below.

Now, if I can keep the space clean….

I have another stash that I take to crops with.  It is not even slightly organized!  People make fun of my obsession for ziploc bags…Holly…they work well!
