Little Black Dress Friday – week 5

Filed under: Uncategorized — jyeger @ 7:57 pm

Is this really week 5?   Ugggh….I still have so much to lose.    This week can be summed up in one word…maintenance.  I gained  a couple pounds after last weekend’s camping trip.  Sooo, it took some work to get back to where I was and here I sit.  I exercised once while camping and have spun twice this week (better than nothing).   I’m thinking I need to sign up for Weight Watchers and go to the meetings…for some reason I like being held accountable.

One funny thing this week…Leah and I have been discussing that Mom is trying to lose weight.  She can’t quite understand the concept.  Anyhow, I was eating a 110 calorie ice cream bar last night and she wanted one.  I gave it to her and she said “now I’m going to lose weight because I’m eating all this lowfat stuff”.  Cute for a 6 yr old to put that together.

Hope everyone had a great week and saw success on the scale!!

Fun Bits for the Week of May 18th…

  • If you didn’t know, we went camping this weekend…I should reiterate “TENT” camping.  We have a large tent that will fit all of us including a Pak n’ Play. 🙂   Of course,  Leah and Kami wanted to sleep in the tent with their cousins.  Needless to say it was interesting.  The girls had a GREAT time hanging out with their cousins and making some new friends.  We all enjoyed stuffing our faces with hobo pies, burgers cooked over an open fire, stuffed sausage peppers, smoked brauts and turkey (thanks Jeff) and smores!  Nope, didn’t lose much weight this weekend. ;-(           Here are some pics to share…

  • See that tent in the background…that’s ours.  In some of the other pics you’ll see some campers in our group.  After one night in our tent, I had some serious “camper envy”!  Thankfully my brother and SIL allowed us to use their facilities.  Leah refused to use the outhouse!

  • Speaking of Leah…  the weather was beautiful on Saturday.  The girls enjoyed swimming in the pool!

  • The Indian Creek campground was very nice.  They offered lots of activities for the kids.  Here’s my niece Alyssa practicing her hula hoop.

  • Ah, yes…guess who’s trying to climb up the skee-ball machine?  Geneva-on-the-lake has a boardwalk-type downtown.  We enjoyed a little bit of shopping and a trip to the arcade while it was raining outside.

  • Leah and Kami tried on some hats while shopping.

  • Not sure if you can tell or not, but this is my neice Camille chasing her sister with a water balloon.  Aunt Kathy brought the balloons along for some water play – the kids LOVED it!  Oh, and yes, those are campers in the background…part of our group…camper envy.

  • Here’s Brooke trying to finish Aunt Kathy’s Sodoku game.

  • Here’s my brother who refuses to smile for a photo.
  • One other funny little tidbit.  Everytime we used the “facilities” we used our “handitizer” (hand + sanitizer) as Kami liked to call it.

Thanks for checking in!  Have a great week!

Salute May 25, 2009

It’s Memorial Day here in the states – it’s a day for us to remember our fallen heroes – those that fought so hard to keep our country safe and our freedom free.

A big THANKYOU to all the men and women of our armed forces.

If you’ve never checked out the “Cards For Heroes” site, I invite you to.  It’s not just about making cards for our overseas men and women.  Check out the “Hero Gallery” then go make some cards!

Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend.

Little Black Dress – week 4 May 22, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — jyeger @ 7:00 am

I can’t remember what week we’re on?  Anyhow, things are going really well this week.  I’m hitting the spinning bike hard now so hopefully some of this extra lovin’ will come off. 😉    I’ve lost about 7 pounds in total so far so I’m feeling good.  It’s always a HUGE battle to get into the next “10” (ie going from 120 to 119  and 110 to 109 – these are numbers I will never see but you get what I’m saying).   I will be really excited when I get to the next “10”…infact I think we’ll have to celebrate with dinner out!  Ha!

Hope everyone else is doing well!  Congrats to Kathy for hitting 20lbs!!!!  Congrats to Judy who started running again.  We’re all keeping tabs on one another. 🙂

Have a great week!

Crop Challenge Cards May 21, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — jyeger @ 7:00 am

I mentioned earlier in the week that I would share the challenge cards from the Jillibean crop.  The creative juices were flowing!  I gave the girls 45 minutes to come up with a card from some scraps (which included both Minestrone and Whitebean patterned papers).  Everyone chose to use the Whitebean papers.  After everyone voted, we had a 3-way tie!  Holly ended up walking away with the prize.

I apologize in advance…I’m not quite sure which card belongs to who…

I think this card belonged to Bev?  Love the blocking with the different pp.

A cute card from Ms. Jana.  You can see more of Jana’s work here.  Love how she cut out the frames.

Tracy created this adorable card.  Again, love the blocking of the different patterns.

Heather created this Happy Birthday card.  Love the googlie eyes on the frog.  Heather has recently started selling cards on Etsy…you can check them out here.

This “Happy Bird-day” card was created by Holly..the white chocolate crunch muncher at the crop. 😉   Kidding…love the card, Holly!

Can someone help me out with this card?  The butterflies are too cute!

Judy created both the “Friend” card above and the “Thank you” card below.  Love the circles.  The green against the white background looks great!

This has got to be the best part of the job…seeing what other’s make with Jillibean goodness. 🙂  Love it!

Thanks Ladies!

A couple of mini cards May 20, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — jyeger @ 7:01 am

During the Jillibean crop last weekend, my plan was to start the night off working on cards and then finish with a couple of layouts.  Well, I never made it to layouts.  😦   Sooo, I have some cards to share…

Simple, simple card.  A little bit of Elbow Macaroni, add some Core’dinations Cardstock (that’s been embossed with the Cuttlebug), a Tim Holtz coupon and some American Crafts Thickers and voila!

Thank you card created with some Thin Zucchini, some Creative Cafe buttons, a little bit of May Arts ribbon and a Jillibean Soup clear stamp (ooh…did you read that?).  P.S.  Used a Stampin’ Up punch for the scalloped border.

Have a great day everyone!

No more training wheels…

Congrats Leah!  I’m so proud of you!

We had a little Pow Wow with the neighbors Saturday afternoon.  We decided that we would both try to teach our 5 yr. olds to ride without training wheels.  Both of them picked it up very quickly.  Leah can’t stop riding now…she wants to be out there all the time!

Prayer Requests May 19, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — jyeger @ 1:36 pm

If you’ve got a minute and you pray…these people could use some extra prayers…

  • My SIL Kathy’s friend Rhonda was bucked off her horse and broke 3 vertebrae in her back.  She’s going to be down for 8-12 weeks and even has a hospital bed in her house (since her bedroom is on the 2nd floor).  She has 3 children (2nd, 3rd and 5th grade) and a traveling husband.  She could use a few extra prayers this month.
  • A friend of a friend is 20 weeks pregnant with twins.  She recently discovered she has twin to twin transfusion syndrome.  I’m not sure exactly what this means but it has to do with too little or too much fluid.  Please keep all of them in your prayers.
  • Eric’s grandma recently had a mini stroke.  She’s doing pretty good but is still having some issues with her speech.  She’s been a very independent woman all her life and we know this is very frustrating for her.  Please keep Imogene in your prayers.
  • Kimber’s grandma passed away a week ago…I know she was struggling a bit so please keep Kimber and her family in your prayers.

If you have something you would like to add…please feel free to comment.

Thanks in advance!

Fun Bits for the Week of May 11th…

  • I sponsored my first crop this past Friday.  I wanted to host a crop for my Jillibean friends – so many have been supportive and encouraging.  We had a great time!  Thought I would share a few pics…

  • Here’s the crew – missing is Alecia (the storeowner) who’s taking the pic.

  • Holly’s gonna LOVE this one!  Here’s Holly enjoying some white chocolate crunch.  LOVE this stuff.  Did I mention we ate a lot at the crop?

  • Can’t see Missey – can you?  She’s hiding behind all that scrappin’ goodness to the right.

  • Sandy doesn’t mind having her picture taken. 🙂

  • Love the sign – thanks Alecia!

  • The crew surprised me with a cake and a beautiful scrapbook about the “Jillibean Journey”.  Thank you to everyone for spending the time to make a special page/card for my scrapbook!  I LOVE it and it was incredibly thoughtful for you to do this for me.  Also,  a big THANKS to Karen and Alecia for making this such a special night!

  • What?  Where did that come from?  It’s just one of those goofy pics that Alecia caught while practicing with my camera.   Yeah, I’m not too proud anymore.

  • Look at all that croppin’ goodness!

  • We played some games during the evening and had a challenge to make a card from some scraps.  Here are the finished products.  I will post better pics sometime this week.  I LOVE the cards that everyone made and it’s funny that everyone used the Whitebean collection.

Thanks again ladies for a great evening!  We’ll do it again soon!
