The Soup Bowl

Tidbits about Jillibean Soup and the life behind the bowl…

Unfortunately, it’s not appropriate to take photos of other vendor’s booths…so you get stuck seeing JB Soup again!  When I get a minute, I’ll try to find some links to other manufacturer’s pics.  If you want to post a comment with a link…go right ahead.

Here’s Jen with the “Simply Homemade” sample that Tammy (editor) left at our booth after she took a couple of layouts and a project to publish!!!

Our crew…myself, Kathy, Karen and Jen.  You guys are awesome and I can’t thank you enough!

Funny story about the sprout flowers in the test tubes.  A sweet young lady knocked them over with her purse and she was mortified.  A couple broke and we all laughed about it.  She offered to buy another test tube set but I explained that they were from an vintage shop and could not be replaced (of course I was just giving her a hard time).  Anyhow, she felt sooo bad that she came back to our booth the next day with a goodie bag for me.  I won’t name any names, but thankyou Tiffany!

The birds…love em’.  We had several buyers asking where they could get the chipboard for the birds.  Unfortunately, these were traced from a wooden sample and cut out by hand.  Hmmmm….chipboard anyone?

We need to go bigger on the sign next time.  Lots of great comments about the name.  We had several people just taking pics of the sign because they had a “jill” or a “jillian” at home.

Lots of people lovin’ the Minestrone collection…me too.

Kimber made these awesome magazine holders…they worked great for our catalogs.

Some general booth pics.  Letters and Spicy Pumpkin layout from Kimber.

Some cards.  “Love Birds” was provided by Kimber and “Remember When” was provided by Karen.  We had numerous people ask where the wire tree came from.  It came from a local gift shop.  I’ll try to get the name of the artist who made it and post it.

Ah yes, what goes up must come down.  Out comes the yellow/white curtains again.

My help decided to take a nap. 🙂

Woo Hoo!  We did it!

OK, so that was more than a “few”.

Thanks for looking!

Nite, Nite.

Not complaining…

* I’m back in Columbus where there’s a foot of snow…but I’m not complaining.

* It rained and was chilly for most of our trip to California…but I’m not complaining.

* I’m exhausted from lack of sleep…but I’m not complaining.

* I have lots of orders to fill…but I’m not complaining.

* My husband and daughters had flowers, a card and a “congrats” cake when I got home…I’m not complaining.

* I gained 4 pounds while in California…I’m not complaining.

* I’m getting published for the first time in Scrapbook Trends magazine…I’m not complaining.

* I’m back to changing diapers and listening to kids yell and scream…but I’m not complaining.

* Jillibean Soup will be featured in several publications in the next couple of months…I’m not complaining.

California was great!  Even though the numbers were down for the show…we were still successful!   We met so many people…so many nice people!  I’m very pleased with the outcome of the show!  You’ll be seeing JB Soup all over the US and overseas!  We had lots of great comments about our booth and our products – thank you!  Kathy, Karen, Jen and Kimber…you guys rock!  I could not have done this without you!!!!

So, no, I’m not complaining about anything!  I’m very thankful and feel very blessed to be fulfilling my dreams!

Kathy talking with one of our first customers.  Karen is diligently working on make n’ take samples.

Great shot of Karen.

We added little touches inside the cubbies on the big white “island” piece…love this pot with “sprout” flowers.

Some prospective customers making make n’ takes.

This is the crowd waiting in line to see Paris Hilton.  Paris is launching a scrapbooking line.  What????? You ask????  Yep, that’s right…apparently she makes crafts.

A card from our card tree.

Some birds on another tree.

There’s a small parade that comes through right before the opening on opening day.

Jen being silly!  Love that face!

I’m  exhausted so that’s it for now.  I will post more tomorrow.

Have a great day!

CHA – Friday January 24, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — jyeger @ 11:24 am

OK, girls…I know you’ve been waiting anxiously for these.  It’s still not the finished product…more progress.

Kimber and Summer Fullerton stopped by to help.  They ended up putting most of the vinyl flowers up.   Thank you bunches ladies!!!

Here’s Kathy hanging one of the flowers on our outside wall.  I don’t think Kathy likes hanging 48″ vinyl flowers. 😉  I’m not so sure I do either.  Tip…if you decide to hang large vinyl pieces…cut it up into smaller pieces to hang.

Here are Kimber and Summer having way too much fun!

Here’s Kathy setting up a tree that will house some Jillibean Soup birds.  She’s hiding behind the tree – not wanting her photo taken. 😉

More of the flowers.

Here, we’re starting to hang some of the paper collections.

This is “booth envy”.  This is my next door neighbor…Vintaj Natural Brass Co.   They have a very cool booth.  I’ll take closer pics today…love the barn siding and that awesome sign!!!

Will post more tonight hopefully…I’m working on 3 hours of sleep.

Jillibean Soup booth January 23, 2009

Greetings from California!   We made it and so did all my stuff…some in better condition than others…but it’s here!

I debated whether or not to put these pics up.  First, they’re not the greated pics…the lighting in the hall is not so hot and my camera does not like the galvanized sheeting on my booth.  Second, it’s not the best representation of my booth…but what the heck.  Hopefully you’ll come back to see the finished product.

OK, I know this is a boring pic, but it’s going to tell a story.  This is what you start off with…yellow/white curtains.  If we did not build our own walls or have someone else build something for us…this is what would have been my backdrop.  It was kind of surreal to see Jillibean Soup on the sign though!

Here are the hardwalls that Eric built in our garage.  I know still not looking that great…  Don’t pay any attention to the woman in the sweater.

Unfortunately, some of my stuff got damaged on the way out to California.  Here I am pointing to the cracked bottom of the “island”.  I love this piece.  It’s the heart of my booth and I was bummed when they called and said it got damaged.  Thankfully, we’re still able to use it.

Here’s Eric working on the damaged frames.  The frames will house my collections.  Unfortunately, a couple of them got damaged on the way out here.  Thanks goodness, I’m going for the “shabby chic” look!  Thank goodness for Eric coming out as well!  He’s back in Ohio now with the girls.

Sorry this pic is so dark.  Here are the vinyl pieces going up.  I mentioned before…these came from the Pink Tomato in Wooster, Ohio.

Here’s the flower up.  I have LOTS of these things to put up…hopefully I’ll get them up today and post more pics tomorrow.

Here’s the end of the day Thurs.  Like I said, I debated on whether or not to post these, but decided it would be fun to see the process.  Hopefully, Kathy and I will get tons done today and I’ll post more tomorrow.

Have a great day!

I’m leavin’ on a jet plane… January 20, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — jyeger @ 11:01 pm

Headed to California in the morning.   I hear it’s in the 80’s out there.  My body is going to go into shock after this cold Ohio weather!   I’m still not as organized as I would like to be but my time has run out.

Again….We’re at booth #2712.  Stop in a say “hi” to Kathy, Karen, Jen and I!!!!

I’m excited to share lots of pics with y’all.  Someone mentioned (I think it was you Missey) that I should install a camera in the booth and have a live feed on the internet.  I’m not sure my booth will be that exciting, but it would be fun to see all the people!

I’ve got a couple of things to share before I take off…

I need to do a quick shout-out to Jodi at the Pink Tomato in Wooster, Ohio.   Very cute paperie!  They specialize in custom invitations as well as scriptology.   Jodi made several vinyl “flour tortilla” flowers (see this) for my booth.  I promise to take lots of pics and share the process with everyone.  Also, Jodi’s husband owns a screen printing/embroidery shop.  They embroidered Jillibean Soup aprons for me and they are just adorable!  You’ll also get to see pics of the girls and I modeling them!   By the way, the Pink Tomato is the first store to carry our the Minestrone collection!

I also am thrilled to announce that Jillibean Soup has gone international!!  Our first supplier is Indigo Mill in the UK.  Stop over and see Steph…she’s a doll!  It’s amazing how many people (all around the world) I’ve met since I started blogging.  Most of them are nice too. 😉

Soon, Jillibean Soup products can be purchased in Australia, Japan, Singapore, Germany and Canada.  How about that?  Woot, Woot!

I will definitely get our store directory up and running after the show.  Hmmm, so much to do, so little time.

Thank you to ::Essence::  (love how you do that double colon thing).  She nominated me for her blog award for being inspiring.  Thanks sweetie!  You’re an inspiration to all of us with your strong faith, willingness to reach out to others and your artistic ability.  She sent me a thank you in the mail for a giveaway I did a while back.  Here’s a photo of the adorable card.

One other shout out to my girls…Karen, Tracy, Heather, Shannon, Ava, Sarah, Shannon, Holly, Jamie, Kelly, Judy, Daria, Missey, Sue and Stephanie.   Thanks for your help with the sprouts!  You guys Rock!!!

Oh, almost forgot…last Sunday was my nephew Lucas’ birthday and tomorrow is his sister Elaina’s big day.  Happy Birthday to both of you cutie patuties!!!!

I’m off girlies…I will be posting as much as possible this week so keep checkin’ in.  Hopefully things will be going well!!!!
