Fun Bits for the Week of October 13th…

How about we do some Hollywood stuff instead…

The infamous “Hollywood” sign which I learned used to say Hollywoodland.  Jen and I chased this puppy down.  It was fun driving through the Hollywood Hills.

Anyone recognize this house from “Bel-Air”?

Hollywood Walk of Fame anyone?  We learned that the stars each have to nominate themselves and pay $25,000 to have their star placed.  The only person that didn’t pay for her’s was Liza Minnelli.  She refused to pay so her fans held a bake-sale for 7 years in order to have her star placed.  Talk about Diva!

The $11 mojito.  Wasn’t mine – I had a boring old Corona Light.  Jen didn’t know it was $11 until the bill came…guess that’s why the waiter suggested it.

The Los Angeles skyline at sunset.

Jen and Captain Jack Sparrow.  Makes me giggle everytime I see it.

On of the masks on the side of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

The only photo I have from the WB studios where they film “Ellen”.  It was dark when we came out so the shot was taken in the dark.  Thanks Jen!

And last but not least…makes me giggle too…Captain Jack Sparrow trying to steal my purse. 😉

Thanks for looking!

tomorrow to attend a taping of the Ellen Degeneres show!  What?!?!?!?!?  Yep, that’s right.  I signed up for tickets online (which I’ve done several times in the past) and I actually got a phone call this time.    My college buddy Jen and I are flying out Wednesday and will attend the taping on Thursday.  I have no idea when the show will air or who the guests are but I’m excited.  I’m a huge Ellen fan.  I watched her show everyday when I was on bedrest.  I love her personality…fun, generous and non-judgemental (something that’s difficult to find among talk show hosts these days).

Maybe Jen and I can get in a silly game like this.

I’m sure I’ll have photos and stories to share when I return!

Our trip to Washington… August 10, 2008

Finally had a few minutes to go through the numerous pics I took while we were visiting family in Washington.  There were 15 of us in one house – including 7 kids, 5 and under!  Wowza!  What great fun!  We don’t get to see hubby’s family very often – they live on opposite coasts – so this was a great time to catch up.  The kids really had fun together.  They all got along great and enjoyed playing together.

Here are some of my favorite pics…

Here’s the crew.  Yep, made everyone dress in the same color so we could take a nice photo together.  Do you know how difficult it is to get 15 people (several little ones) to all look in the same direction and smile?

The owner of the rental house let the kids use this battery operated train.  This is my nephew Lucas – love this shot of him!  He’s one cool dude!

This is hubby’s family…Dad, hubby, sister Laura, Mom and sister Heidi.  Behind them are the Tumwater Falls.  It’s kind of strange – because the falls are in the middle of town.  Heidi and her husband Kevin live in Washington (with their 2 peeps).  Heidi was great in orchestrating our activities, getting all sorts of kid gear for us and finding the great house that we stayed in.  Thanks Heidi!

Grandma with the kids at the zoo.

My nephew Andrew.  He looks a lot like Grandpa.  Cute little fella with an inquisitive mind!

Love this shot of Kami.  I love the reflection in the aquarium.  She’s looking at a pair of Beluga whales.  The lighting is funky because of the water color and the white/blue color of the whales.

This is Leah and her cousin’s Elaina and Heather.  They’re looking through the dock slots to see what lies below.

My brother-in-law Mark and cool little Lucas.  Mark and Laura (and their 2 little peeps) live in Maine.  Mark is getting into politics and running for State Representative in the fall .  We wish him the best!

Look at the bellies on these two!  Brooke and Lucas enjoying a popsicle.

This is Leah, Kami, Lucas, Elaina and Heather (yes, we’re missing the 2 little ones).  I was trying to get a group shot and everyone was getting tired.  In order to get them going again, Aunt Jill would run through the shot and pretend to get everyone with this bird feather pen.  As a result, they’re smiling in every shot, but they’re looking in the wrong direction (at Aunt Jill running by).  Oh well, it’s still cute to see all of them laughing.

Hope you enjoyed them!  Thanks for looking!

July 29th…4 adults, 3 kids, 6 checked bags, 8 carry-on bags, 1 double-stroller, 2 flights, 5 hours of flight time, 4 hours in airports, 2 hours of driving time and a 3 hour time change from Washington.

When we were traveling home yesterday – a very long day I might add – I was thinking about different things that I could post.  Should I post how exhausting it is traveling with 3 small children and how other fliers are intolerable of fussy kids?  Should I post about Brooke who did not want to be on an airplane yesterday?  Should I post about the guy in first class who kept giving us the “eye” everytime Brooke would cry (which was too numerous to count)?  Should I post about being Thankful that my in-laws were traveling with us?  Should I post about the man who said “I hope they’re not sitting in the back” as we were getting in line to get on our last flight?  By the way, we were in the back and sat right behind that nice young fella.  Should I post about Kami and how she turns into a completely different child when she doesn’t get enough sleep?  Yes, I know I’m complaining, I do have something funny to tell…

It was about 11:00pm in Columbus (way past the girl’s bedtime) and we had hauled all our luggage out to the curb for our pick-up.  Hubby went to get the car so we were just hanging out.  My father-in-law decided to go to the restroom while we were waiting.  He left.  A minute later I decided to go as well  (remember – it’s 11:00 pm and we just returned from a day of traveling with 3 young kids.  I was completely out of it and just daydreaming – happy to be home).  I walked back through the airport doors and noticed my father-in-law walking in front of me.  I proceeded up the ramp looking at people as I passed by.  My father-in-law turned the corner, then I did.  Then he turned another corner and so did I.   I jolted when I noticed the urinals along the wall.  I was in the MEN’s restroom!!!   I froze as I saw my father-in-law stop at a urinal and start unzipping his pants.  Panic on my face!  I started shuffling my feet – he was starting to turn his head around.  I QUICKLY ducked back out of the restroom.   Oh my goodness – did he see me?  I went right next door to the WOMEN’s restroom.  When I came out, I wondered if he already went back to the curb.  I was hoping he didn’t.  I RAN back to the curb -hoping to make it before he did.  He was not there yet.  When he did come back out,  he didn’t say a word.  Phew…

Greetings from Olympia, Washington.  We spent the last week with hubby’s family and are headed home tomorrow.  It’s been a busy week with 7 kids, 5 and under all under one roof.  The girls have had a great time and will be completely bored when we get home!

I’m sure I’ll have lots of pics to share.  For now, here’s a couple…

Leah enjoying a snowcone at the local Farmer’s Market.  It was almost as big as her head.

Kami having fun at a local park.

Here’s Brooke at the park too.  This will be fun to scrapbook!

You’ll notice the girls have jackets on…it’s been a bit chilly out here and Mom didn’t pack the right clothes.  It’s been in the 50’s/60’s in the mornings and somedays hits the 70’s in the afternoon.  It’s nice, I just didn’t bring appropriate clothing. ;-(

I’ll get back in the groove of posting once we get home.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

I keep getting these e-mails from hawaii.com about visiting Hawaii.  Yes, I would love, love, love to visit again!  I signed up on the website when we were planning our trip in 2005.  Gosh, I can’t believe it’s been almost 3 years since we went to Maui and Kauai!  Anyhow, it reminded me of a layout I did with some 8X10 pics.  I thought I would share it with you…

Sorry, it doesn’t line up exactly.  I had fun making this layout and loved the vivid colors!  Hawaii was so fun and there were so many great photo opportunities.

Thanks for looking!

Home Sweet Home… June 9, 2008

We had such a great time at the beach with my cousin Sherry and her family.  Most of our time was spent playing in the sand, jumping the waves and collecting seashells.  The girls really enjoyed themselves.  We all laughed at their sillyness.  My cousin has twin girls ages 2.5 so we had 5 under 5 and all girls!  They enjoyed playing dress-up, swimming in the pool, coloring, making bubbles and singing karaoke.  My cousin brought lots of great toys to share – thanks Sher!

Taylor and Kami playing in the water.

We were a short walk from the beach so everyday we would load up the wagon, fishing cart and beach cart with the goods and head off.   Leah was eager to help pull the wagon with the little ones in it.  Once we got to the beach it was sand time!  We attempted to build sandcastles which usually got trampled quickly.  The girls enjoyed running back n’ forth to the ocean to get water for our moat.  Kami enjoyed doing summersaults in the sand!  Brooke did not care for sand in her mouth but continued to keep trying it.  I was so proud of Leah – she really braved the ocean.  She is usually very afraid of the water.  She loved jumping the waves and didn’t freak out when she would get some water in her face.

  Kami’s famous sand summersault.

Leah wants to be a ballerina – can you tell?

We spent one morning on a dolphin cruise and were fortunate to see several dolphins.  The girls got to take turns driving the boat.  We spent another day traveling to Charleston to see a friend.  We enjoyed some time on Market street and walked down on the waterfront.  There was a fountain on the waterfront that kids were playing in.  Leah was very concerned that she did not have a bathing suit to wear in the fountain.  She even suggested that we drive back to Hilton Head to get it – only a 4 hour drive there and back!  Since I said “no” to that, she suggested we go and buy one so she could go in the fountain.  No one ever said she wasn’t persistent.  On the way home we drove past battery park to see some of the beautiful old homes on the waterfront.

  The dolphin cruise crew.

I think this is Rainbow Row on the waterfront?

  One of my favs…

After a long 13 hour car ride on Saturday we were happy to be home.  The girls were happy to sleep in their beds.  I was excited to have my Tim Horton’s bagel on Sunday morning.   We all miss Lily and can’t wait for her to come home next week.
