The Soup Bowl

Tidbits about Jillibean Soup and the life behind the bowl…

Some cards from my friend Karen… August 14, 2008

Remember me telling you about my talented friend Karen?  Well, she so graciously made up some cards and layouts with Jillibean Soup products (and the occasional Stampin’ Up stamp).  Thank you Karen!  I would like to share some of them with you – please excuse the glare…I was having difficulty with lighting.

I think this is so cute!  The “love” is actually popped out.  I think she used punches for the “love” and the scalloped border.

I think this would make a great thanksgiving card!  The felt leaves are from the dollar bins at Target.

Sorry about the glare on this one.  Love how she layered the “minced shallot” (circles, ovals, birds)  paper over “brown sugar” (graph).  I know – who comes up with these names?   Here’s a close-up of the stamp:

I’m guessing it’s a Stampin Up stamp – Karen, please correct me if I’m wrong.  She even cut out a small circle of leaves to put in the center.

Love how she popped out some of the tree leaves here (the paper name is “chopped parsley”).  I’m guessing the “Create” stamp is a Stampin’ Up product as well.  Can’t wait to see the new SU catalog!

Thanks again Karen!

Here are the cards we made for the B&B make n’ takes on Saturday.

Sorry the photos are not too hot – too much light.  You get the idea, though.  Option one was this versatile foldover card using “Half & Half” paper from the Cream of Mush collection.  I used the 3″ punch from EK Success for the red scallop on the front (you will see one of these in a giveaway soon).  With the exception of the Bazzill cardstock and the Paper Company bling, all products are from JB Soup.

The other option was a “Happy Thanksgiving” card using “Acorn Squash”.  The ribbon, bean seeds (felt flowers) are also from JB Soup.  The stamp is from Hero Arts.

Everyone also had the opportunity to make a mini-card (gift tag).  We made the “For You” mini card with the butterfly from “Fresh Raspberries”.

Thank you everyone who came out on Saturday (skipped the game :-)) and joined Karen and I!

Happy Belated Birthday to Karen!! October 12, 2008

Karen celebrated her birthday yesterday and shame on me for not posting it!  Karen has been a huge help to me and a huge supporter of Jillibean Soup!  You can see her at most of the make n’ take sessions and hopefully will be teaching some classes soon!  You can view some of Karen’s cards here.

Happy Birthday Karen!!

A whole lot of randomness! November 17, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — jyeger @ 7:14 pm

Ugh, having difficulty getting back to blogging this week.  Sick kids, traveling husband, multiple classes, projects, new designs….I just can’t keep up.  I guess that’s a good thing.

I really enjoyed my classes in the last couple of weeks.  Thanks Amy for the cute magnet and card!  The retreat at Scrapbook Art was great!  I enjoyed Jennifer McGuire’s class (learned some fun new techniques) and had a great time with the ladies.  I’ll get some pics up soon.  Kimber and Karen harassed me a bit too much but I made it out alive.  Karen won a Making Memories Slice – she wasn’t even there when she won and she’s lucky it was still there in the morning. 😉  The girls at Pizazz It! were great this weekend.  Card class next time, right ladies? 😉  Also, I had a class at B&B last night that was fun.  Thanks ladies for participating and supporting Jillibean Soup! Phew.

I will be doing make n’ takes at B&B on December 5th for their anniversary.  We will be making cute little gift card holders.  Also, I will be offering the same make n’ take at Cord Camera in Clintonville for their grand re-opening on Dec 13th.   I would love to have you stop by!

Jillibean will be sponsoring a giveaway over at the Christmas with the Cricut blog sometime soon (will let you know as soon as I know).  I know we’ve got several Cricut users around here, so you’ll have to check it out.  They giveaway one cricut cartridge a week plus cardstock from Core’dinations along with donations from other manufacturers.

I have a couple of prayer requests (yes, I said this post was random)…some for my Dad and step-mother who are dealing with the craziness of selling a house while getting another one ready at the same time.  Also, one of Eric’s co-workers (a sweet guy who I used to work with as well) had a stroke last week.  I don’t even think he’s in his 50’s and he had a son pass away a couple of years ago from a SUV accident.

Last but not least, I have to tell you that I recently figured out that parents can eat lunch with their kids at school during their lunch period.  I asked Leah if I could come and sit with her and she said “no, you would embarass me”.   She’s 6!  I asked her if I dressed funny or said funny things and her only reply is “you would embarass me”.   I thought this would happen when she was a teenager, not at 6!

Have a great week everyone!

Fun Bits for the Week of May 11th…

  • I sponsored my first crop this past Friday.  I wanted to host a crop for my Jillibean friends – so many have been supportive and encouraging.  We had a great time!  Thought I would share a few pics…

  • Here’s the crew – missing is Alecia (the storeowner) who’s taking the pic.

  • Holly’s gonna LOVE this one!  Here’s Holly enjoying some white chocolate crunch.  LOVE this stuff.  Did I mention we ate a lot at the crop?

  • Can’t see Missey – can you?  She’s hiding behind all that scrappin’ goodness to the right.

  • Sandy doesn’t mind having her picture taken. 🙂

  • Love the sign – thanks Alecia!

  • The crew surprised me with a cake and a beautiful scrapbook about the “Jillibean Journey”.  Thank you to everyone for spending the time to make a special page/card for my scrapbook!  I LOVE it and it was incredibly thoughtful for you to do this for me.  Also,  a big THANKS to Karen and Alecia for making this such a special night!

  • What?  Where did that come from?  It’s just one of those goofy pics that Alecia caught while practicing with my camera.   Yeah, I’m not too proud anymore.

  • Look at all that croppin’ goodness!

  • We played some games during the evening and had a challenge to make a card from some scraps.  Here are the finished products.  I will post better pics sometime this week.  I LOVE the cards that everyone made and it’s funny that everyone used the Whitebean collection.

Thanks again ladies for a great evening!  We’ll do it again soon!

Fun Bits for the week of April 13th…

  • Kami looking at my profile and saying “Mommy, you have a big nose like Pappy”.   Sorry Dad.
  • Brooke loves to get up on the 2nd bunk of Leah’s bunk beds.  Today, she refused to come down.  Everytime I tried to grab her, she would back away so I could not reach her.  Finally when I got her to the ladder, she pretended like she was going to jump.  Friendly reminder…Brooke is 21 months old and will probably give me a heart attack before I’m 40.
  • Leah was the special person at school this past week.  Her classmates each make a page for her “special person” book where they draw pictures and make comments about Leah.  Here are some comments:
  1. I like Leah because she all was (always) helps me.
  2. I like Leah because she is a very special person and very kind to pipel (people) and I like her so much.
  3. I like Leah because she is nice to evrey body (everybody).
  • That makes me a proud Mama!
  • Hubby recently called Kami his “buddy”.  She said “I’m not buddy, I’m toad”.  “Toad” being his favorite nickname for her.
  • I enjoyed some scrappin’ time this past weekend.  My friend Karen invited me to join the Tarragon scrappers for a crop.  I got a few layouts/cards done, ate some good food, met some new people and had some great laughs with the girls.  Thanks Lori for organizing!
  • One evening last week, the girls and I took a trip to the mall.  I’ve been venturing out more with the 3 of them by myself.  They’re getting a little easier to manage.  Anyhow, I don’t get to do much shopping anymore so I was VERY excited to pick up some $12.99 knock-off Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses from a kiosk in the middle of the mall.  They were more hip than anything I’ve purchased in a while.  Somehow, during the course of our stay at the mall…Kami managed to lose the sunglasses that I had just purchased.  As I’m loading everyone in the car for our trip home, I started realizing that the sunglasses were nowhere to be found.  Crap, I just bought them.  There went my bargain sunglasses!  I looked everywhere when we got home…purse, under seats, diaper bag, everywhere.  BTW…thought I lost my Blackberry at the mall too.  After the girls went to bed, I was bummed about the sunglasses.  The next day, I checked the stroller again and they had fallen down between the seats.  My Blackberry was there too. Yippeee! We probably won’t be making a trip to the mall anytime soon or I will be going by myself. 😉

  • Cool, huh?  I know…you can’t really see them.  Take my word…they’re cool for me!

Have a great week!

Unfortunately, it’s not appropriate to take photos of other vendor’s booths…so you get stuck seeing JB Soup again!  When I get a minute, I’ll try to find some links to other manufacturer’s pics.  If you want to post a comment with a link…go right ahead.

Here’s Jen with the “Simply Homemade” sample that Tammy (editor) left at our booth after she took a couple of layouts and a project to publish!!!

Our crew…myself, Kathy, Karen and Jen.  You guys are awesome and I can’t thank you enough!

Funny story about the sprout flowers in the test tubes.  A sweet young lady knocked them over with her purse and she was mortified.  A couple broke and we all laughed about it.  She offered to buy another test tube set but I explained that they were from an vintage shop and could not be replaced (of course I was just giving her a hard time).  Anyhow, she felt sooo bad that she came back to our booth the next day with a goodie bag for me.  I won’t name any names, but thankyou Tiffany!

The birds…love em’.  We had several buyers asking where they could get the chipboard for the birds.  Unfortunately, these were traced from a wooden sample and cut out by hand.  Hmmmm….chipboard anyone?

We need to go bigger on the sign next time.  Lots of great comments about the name.  We had several people just taking pics of the sign because they had a “jill” or a “jillian” at home.

Lots of people lovin’ the Minestrone collection…me too.

Kimber made these awesome magazine holders…they worked great for our catalogs.

Some general booth pics.  Letters and Spicy Pumpkin layout from Kimber.

Some cards.  “Love Birds” was provided by Kimber and “Remember When” was provided by Karen.  We had numerous people ask where the wire tree came from.  It came from a local gift shop.  I’ll try to get the name of the artist who made it and post it.

Ah yes, what goes up must come down.  Out comes the yellow/white curtains again.

My help decided to take a nap. 🙂

Woo Hoo!  We did it!

OK, so that was more than a “few”.

Thanks for looking!

Nite, Nite.

Random Thoughts… December 5, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — jyeger @ 11:47 pm

Happy Friday!

I have to apologize for not posting much this week.  I’ve been swamped and I’m getting another cold that’s been keeping me up at night.

December 5th – what?  Already?  Where did November go?  Does anyone want to be my personal Christmas shopper this year?  Uuuuggghh!!  I received some Christmas cards in the mail today (thanks Sher – your’s was beautiful).  I haven’t even started our’s!!!  Uuuuggggh again!!

I wanted to give a shout- out to Karen, Joleen and Kathy from Herbert’s Pharmacy in Andover, Ohio.  They will be carrying some Jillibean Soup products!  My SIL Kathy is a pharmacist and works there.  Please say “hi” if you stop in!  Thanks ladies!!!

I also had great intentions of posting fun Christmas craft ideas but I’m not so sure that’s going to happen either.  I may just have to direct you to other sites with fun stuff!

I will post a couple of cards that I posted back in October….

The papers are from the Cold Raspberry collection.

We’ve been working on the website quite a bit recently.  For those of you that have filled out the wholesale form, the shopping cart portion should be up and running early next week.  If you have problems logging on or need additonal assistance, please send me an e-mail at

If others (non-retailers) want to take a look at the site, the products, the verbage – let me know what you think.  Your comments are greatly appreciated!

I’ve had some questions recently about a design team for JB Soup.  I would love to have one…just don’t have the time to put it together right now.  My plan is to start working on it after the CHA winter show in January.  Any new information will be posted on this blog.

If you didn’t see in a post from earlier this week, Karen and I will be doing make n’ takes at B&B tomorrow (Sat 12/05) from 3-5pm.  Please stop in and make a card or a mini-book.  Also, Alecia has added some Bean Seeds (felt pieces), Journaling Sprouts, kraft cards and plain kraft paper to her inventory.

Hope everyone had a great week and recovered from turkey day!

Quick Note… November 16, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — jyeger @ 9:25 pm

It’s good to be home.  I had a great time at our scrapbooking retreat this weekend.  Lots of laughter with the girls.  Yes, I scared Karen with my crazy driving.  Yes, I was a little “intense” when we were late and trying to find the Carlisle Inn (where we were supposed to be doing make n’ takes with the Scrapbook Groupies retreat group).  Yes, I am exhausted right now after staying up late scrappin’ 3 nights in a row.  Still, I LOVE this hobby and LOVE getting together with friends to do it!

I have LOTS of fun stuff to share this week!  I have several layouts and projects to share – all stuff made with JB Soup.  Leah will pick a winner for the turkey placecards tomorrow.  I will be doing another giveaway this week – with JB Soup journaling sprouts!  Yep, they’re finished and I love them!  I used numerous sprouts on pages this weekend.  I will be chatting with the Columbus Scrappers on Thursday evening at 10pm – looking forward to that!  Also, don’t forget JB Soup will be doing make n’ takes at B&B Scrapbooks in Powell this Saturday from 12-3.

Have a great week everyone!

See what other gals are doing with JB Soup products… October 12, 2008

I would love to share with you some other layouts and cards made with Jillibean Soup products.

This is a layout from my friend Missey.  She used a couple of papers from the Blackbean collection for this one.  I love the b/w photo on this paper!  Love the bling too!  Cute layout Missey, thanks for sharing!!!

This is an adorable card from Jana. 🙂  Cute story about Jana…I met her at a jewelry party at Missey’s.  Missey shared my paper with the group at the party.  Jana was so excited and loved it.  She doesn’t know it but she totally made my week that week.  Her timing couldn’t have been better.  Thanks, Jana.

Again, Jana used the Black Bean collection.  I’m all about “wrapping” cards, pics and layouts lately…I take twine and wrap it around the card or pic several times.  I’m sure you’ve seen it in some of my posts lately.

Another cute layout from Missey.  I like the tabs on the left of the photo.  Missey used the Spicy Pumpkin collection for this layout.  Great fall layout Missey!!

This is a beautiful card that my friend Karen gave to me.  Love the glitter in the center of the flower.  Who knew they made brown glitter?  Karen is better at “altering” than I am.  She uses sponges to ink her edges and it definitely makes more of an impact than the Catseyes I use.  Karen used the Spicy Pumpkin collection for this as well.

This is another adorable card from Jana.  I like how she “v’d” the ribbon.  I love staples too – I just don’t remember to use them. 😉  Oooh, and there’s some kraft Alphabeans on this card!  Jana used the Split Pea collection for this card.  Thanks for sharing Jana!

Thanks ladies!!  Hopefully I will get better at posting more sample more often.  Soon, you can view more ideas in the “recipes” tab on the website.  If you have projects you want to share, please feel free to e-mail them to me at
