Short trip to Target this morning…Kami, Brooke and I hurry in after taking Leah to Kindergarten…we need to get a few things..we swing by the clothing department and pick up a cute sweater – not on my list…we head back to the food section…target has some cheap “market pantry” snacks…we load up on “stuff”…we get a couple frozen pizzas – love, love, love the Archer Farms margherita pizza (only 6 points for 1/3 pizza for all you weight watcher buddies)…Kami has to get out of the cart cuz it’s getting full…she lingers around…”Mommy, hold me”…”I can’t Kami”…huh, what’s that?…oh, no…I gotta go to the bathroom…why does that always happen when I have the little ones?…I quickly tell Kami, “let’s go”…”pick up the pace, please”…she responds “Carry me, Mommy”…I pick her up and rest her on the front push bar of the cart while pushing towards the restrooms (remember Brooke is in the front seat)…we park the cart…we head into the family restroom…there’s no place to put Brooke…ugghh, she’s in her bare feet…yuck…I put her down and say “please stay right there”…of course a 1 yr old won’t stand still…she makes her way to the drain in the middle of the room…she bends over to look into it…yuck…”Brooke, don’t do that”…she heads to the back of the toilet as I’m sitting on it…”NO, don’t do that”…she starts pulling off the toilet paper…”No”…hurry, hurry…wash hands…pick up the girls and out we go…back to the cart…I can’t handle anymore shopping…we check-out…we get home and I wash Brooke’s feet…I check my receipt and somehow I’ve spent $150 on cheap snacks!!

Card Drive

Filed under: Uncategorized — jyeger @ 11:22 am

If I haven’t said it before…I’ll say it now – “I love Jennifer McGuire” – maybe even to the point of having a crush on this girl. 😉  Can I say that?  🙂 This girl rocks and I’m so jealous of her talent!  I keep a stash of ideas from trade publications sitting in my office.  I can go back several years and see numerous layouts of Jennifer’s that I’ve collected for inspiration.

Anyhow, I keep tabs on her blog and recently she did a card drive for some family members.  It went so well that she’s decided to do another one – this time for the soldiers in Iraq through cardsforheroes.org.  Click here to see the message on her blog.  Click here to go to Hero Art Stamps with more information about the drive.  Both blogs have some beautiful cards posted for inspiration.

The card drive is pretty simple.  You get out your stash of paper crafting goodies and make a couple of holiday cards to send to the troups.  They can either be blank cards or have a message in them.  Jennifer will do the rest.  You can mail the cards to:

        Jennifer McGuire
        Heroes Card Drive
        PO Box 428612
        Cincinnati, OH 45242

She asks that the cards arrive by Sept 30th.

I will be sending some cards in the next week or two.

In Christ Alone

In mid-August we attended a wedding and one of the songs that was sung – very beautifully I might add – was “In Christ Alone”.  This was the first time that I’ve heard that song and I immediately fell in love with it.  It really seems to touch my soul every time I hear it.

Anyhow, I downloaded it and I’ve listened to it several times since then.  Here are the words…

“In Christ Alone”
Words and Music by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev’ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow’r of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand.

In the midst of hurricane season, I would like to ask that you keep the hurricane victims in your prayers.  Also, my brother and his family are in North Carolina right now vacationing.  Hurricane Hanna is expected to hit the Carolinas on Friday.  I don’t know if they will have to evacuate yet, but please keep them in your prayers as well.
